Breaking The Chains of Trauma

Synopsis

The Trauma for Women and Men program focuses on providing treatment to individuals that are unable to cope with their traumatic situations and require additional assistance.

The program follows Trauma Informed Care and requires specialized training and skills in order to be able to provide the program. It encompasses 8 modules and a Journal that assist the client in identifying traumatic events that cause problems in their daily functioning.

Once those traumas are identified, the program teaches the client coping mechanisms and strategies while encouraging life-changing planning to be made. In other words, the program teaches clients how to live post breaking the chains of trauma.

According to Correctional Counseling Inc., “Trauma produces a neurochemical response in the brain’s nervous system that becomes long lasting. In essence, it creates a “fight, flight, or freeze reaction.” This neurochemical response can create and sustain the many behavioral issues related to trauma such as withdrawal, isolation and avoidance, substance abuse, anger, violence, irrational behavior, hyper-vigilance, sleep disturbances, depression, and so on.”
